I am not part of an organization, but I believe it is criminal that Governor Walker is flouting federal law and not providing funding that allows the young impoverished people of Wisconsin access to the healthcare that the president’s bill promised them. My own son is a young, under-employed (through no fault of his own) 19 year-old, who has no recourse but to go to the emergency room if he is ill, since he has no health insurance. This situation is appalling—and one of the reasons that healthcare remains so expensive. Young people are racking up medical bills in this manner that they have no hope of ever being able to pay—consequently destroying their credit before they reach the age of 25. Politicians all have healthcare (taxpayer funded). Perhaps if we cut all of them off the public dole, they would get off their behinds and do something about this travesty. It never ceases to amaze me that so many so-called “Christians” don’t follow the tenets of their Christian faith—namely “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Unfortunately, like so many other Wisconsinites, I believe that Governor Walker’s last election was bought and paid for by the Koch brothers; as long as no campaign finance reform measures are instituted, our state will be held hostage by very wealthy individuals (non-state-citizens) who have their own personal agendas—agendas which do not include human decency and the well-being of the citizens of Wisconsin.

A few years ago my husband and I were on a charity motorcycle ride in Texas where we were sideswiped by a car. How she missed a 40 loud motorcycles in parade formation blow my mind but she did. I broke my tailbone bouncing off the concrete and my husbands knee was messed up. The driver was at fault and claims were filed while my husband and I returned home to seek further treatment with out family Dr. To our shock the clinic we’d been using for two decades turned us away because our injuries were due to an accident and without even bothering to call the insurance company they insisted the insurance wouldn’t pay. I was able to get help from a Chiropractor my mother worked for while my husband sought the help of a specialist. He had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment, unable to work, and broke he limped into his office on a Monday morning to be told by the receptionist that our health insurance wouldn’t cover an accident.

Keep in mind we weren’t exactly walking in there empty handed. We had all of the information we needed. The other drivers name. Her insurance companies information. The name and direct phone number of the agent with her company handling the claim. Our insurance companies information. The name of the lawyer we’d hired that my legal insurance (employer provided) paid for plus our own employer provided health care. Neither of us were able to work and our savings was quickly dwindling as we used it to pay our monthly bills. We were looking at shut off notices and a late mortgage within 6 weeks.

They wanted 350 dollars up front to see my husband as well as a possible 2000 dollar MRI that would have to be paid for out of pocket before they would even let him sit in an exam room. We couldn’t get money from the other drivers insurance company until we could show them medical bills and treatments. Beyond frustration my husband the a very loud fit in the dr’s office. Loud enough that the Dr heard it and came into the waiting room to chew him out in front of a room full of customers.

A very kind old man in the lobby who was limping himself got up and got between them and explained to the Dr. what he had overheard. The Dr apologized and led him to a waiting room. The whole thing eventually worked itself out. We got back to work and the insurance company settled but the experience will haunt me to this day.

Your health insurance should not be allowed to “not” cover injuries resulting from an accident. The hoops we had to jump through were a load of crap! What exactly is a person, injured and unable to work in an accident that wasn’t there fault supposed to do if they can’t get treatment! Lay down and hope to die quickly?

I have MS and the medication that I am on (Tysabri) is administered once a month via a 2-3 hour IV drip. I am also on a medication that I take 3X a day (Ampyra) orally to help me walk. These treatments are $8,000-$10,000 each for the IVs /$50 for the oral medication.

I have high blood pressure—just got health insurance after 6 years without. I don’t know if this will be covered—likely not. And way to many maladies can be traced to high blood pressure. So it isn’t just one issue—it is many.

I have hepatitis c and significant liver damage because of it. Initially United healthcare balked at paying for my last round of treatment. Finally, because of who I work for, they did.

I got Type 1 Diabetes while in college in 1982. I have been discriminated against with every new job I have had since then. I have found myself in the position of not leaving a job to take another better job because I just can’t go a year of more without health coverage.
